ABSTRACT

The molten salts of 2LiF+BeF2 (Flibe) and Flinak (LiF-NaF-KF) are promising materials for fission and fusion reactors. Previously, Flibe was experimentally investigated in US as a a liquid fuel for molten salt fission reactor in 1960s. Recently, the molten salt is also expected for liquid blanket material for fusion reactor. In order to estimate tritium behavior in two molten salts of Flibe (2LiF+BeF2) and Flinak (LiF+NaF+KF), experiment is being performed in Kyushu University. In addition, part of experiment is performed in a collaboration work between Japan and US. Our recent studies on chemical behavior of hydrogen isotopes in molten salts and blanket design study for fusion reactors are introduced.
