报告简介:

A recent theoretical research indicates that a Chiral Magnetic Wave (CMW) at finite baryon density could induce the electric quadrupole moment of the quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy ion collisions. The quadrupole deformation will lead to difference in elliptic flow, i.e. v2, between positive and negative pions, and the magnitude of such difference is predicted to be proportional to net charge asymmetry.  In this talk, I present STAR's measurement of v2 difference between positive charged pions and negative charged pions at low transverse momentum, for Au+Au collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV as well as lower energies. Results from U+U collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}} = 193 GeV will also be presented.  Comparison to CMW prediction will be made. Possible alternative explanations and recent theoretical development will also be discussed.

Dr. Aihong Tang received his Ph. D in 2002 from Kent State University, since then he has worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory as a post-doc, assistant and associate scientist, and now, scientist. Dr. Tang's research interest covers a wide range of topics, including fluctuation, heavy flavor physics, anisotropic flow and exotic search. In particular he is recognized as one of the pioneers in measuring anisotropic flow and searching for exotic particles. Dr. Tang has been a driving force behind many STAR early publications on flow, and his work has accumulated 1500+ citations for those publications alone that Dr. Tang is a principle author.
