报告摘要:
Neutron is one of the fundamental particles forming atoms and thus matter. The unique properties of slow neutrons have made the neutron a powerful probe in characterisation and investigation of material structure and dynamics on an atomic scale. Quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS), with a small amount of energy exchange between neutrons and samples over a range of momentum transfer, is a well-known and powerful technique in studying atomic or molecular diffusion properties for a wide range of materials of both hard matter and soft matter systems. This presentation will focus on the fundamentals of QENS, followed by an overview on several analytical modes developed over years for understanding material diffusive behaviours based on QENS. Several study cases will be presented.
