报告简介:
Ion beam and electron beam have broad applications in not only fundamental research but also various industries. On one hand, as they often have shorter wavelength than visible light, they are ideal imaging tools for characterization of materials at high-resolution. On the other hand, because of the damage resulted from ion/electron and solids interactions, one can use ion/electron beam for studying radiation damage in reactors/ space, fabrication of novel devices at small scale and radiology therapy etc. In this talk, two ion/electron beam applications will be discussed: (1) Direct observation of the superplasticity of aluminum surface oxide by in-situ TEM; (2) The necessity of full-3D Monte Carlo simulation for ion implantation experiments at the nanoscale.
报告人简介:
Mr. Yang Yang received B.Eng. from University of Science and Technology of China in 2012. He is now a PhD Candidate in Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research interests and expertise are using in-situ TEM to study the environmental degradation (such as oxidation, hydrogen embrittlement and radiation damage etc) of structural materials, as well as Monte Carlo simulations of ion radiation in solids. His recent work about the superplasticity of aluminum surface oxide is published in Nano Letters and highlighted by Science. He serves as a reviewer for Materials Science and Engineering A and Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A etc.
